It seems like only yesterday I was writing my 2022 book of the year post and here I am in 2024 looking back on the madness of 2023.
I read some great novels, including finding a new Sci-Fi series that I love. I read some more non-fiction and even managed a bit of horror for a change. There was also nothing this year that I hated so a big thumbs up to you 2023. I stayed consistent with an average rating of 3.9and this year six got the big five out of five, and they were:
-
Final Night (The Revenant Records #1) by Kell Shaw
-
The Adventure Zone, Vol. 5: The Eleventh Hour by Clint McElroy
-
The Jeeves Omnibus – Vol 1: (Jeeves & Wooster) by P.G. Wodehouse
-
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
-
Undoctored by Adam Kay
-
Valence (Confluence #4) by Jennifer Foehner Wells
And the winner is… *drum roll*
Valence (Confluence #4) by Jennifer Foehner Wells
I’m as surprised as anyone that this made my book of the year. I was sailing through the series and enjoying it but I was 100% sure that Undoctored by Adam Kay would be the book of the year. Then I got to this book and I couldn’t put it down. The two perspectives from Jane and team off in the wilds of space and Zara back on Earth worked flawlessly and really helped build the tension. It was a triumph and I look forward to finishing the series soon (hopefuly, come on JFW get writing please!)
Anyway that is it for another year, lets hope for some more surprises next time and until then. Keep turning those pages friends.
